The opening ceremony will take place on Friday 2 November with the film crew in attendance, marking the beginning of a 2018 Festival that comes under the label of transreality.
After You and the Night (presented at the Festival in 2013), Yann Gonzalez returns to GIFF to present his second feature film, Knife + Heart, starring Vanessa Paradis, Nicolas Maury and Kate Moran, herself a member of the Festival’s jury in 2015.
“To open this unique festival that is at the crossroads of reality and unreality, we wanted a powerful, transgressive and beautiful movie, said GIFF Artistic and General Director Emmanuel Cuénod. As soon as we discovered it at the Cannes Film Festival, it was obvious Knife + Heart was this film. A crazy and free-spirited work that plays on genres and can be understood both as a bloody romance between two women and a declaration of love to Brian de Palma and Dario Argento’s hyper-sensual and phantasmagoric cinema.”
Coproduced by RTS, the Geneva company Garidi Films and Swiss independent producer Jamal Zeinal-Zade, Knife + Heart is a dizzying plunge into the debauched world of 1970s Parisian gay porn.
